L’inizio della fine
Siamo al 19 marzo 2015: il Parma Calcio, squadra dalla storia centenaria, è ufficialmente fallita.
L’inizio della fine è datato 18 maggio 2014, quando, sul campo, viene conquistato l’accesso al terzo turno preliminare di Europa League, chiudendo il campionato di serie A al sesto posto, davanti al Torino. In questa calda serata di fine maggio, la situazione vede il Toro al sesto posto provvisorio in classifica a 56 punti, mentre la formazione ducale è settima a 55, dopo che nella seconda metà del girone di ritorno le due formazioni si sono date battaglia con sorpassi e contro sorpassi. I gialloblu devono affrontare al Tardini il Livorno già retrocesso, mentre i granata se la devono vedere al Franchi con la Fiorentina, già in Europa. Non siamo padroni del nostro destino: dobbiamo vincere e sperare che il Torino non faccia altrettanto! Oppure, in virtù del vantaggio negli scontri diretti, in caso di sconfitta del Toro, potrebbe essere sufficiente un pareggio. Tutto ciò assumerà, pochi anni dopo, un sapore di già vissuto!
Il Parma vince, non proprio in scioltezza, per 2-0, dopo che Amauri al 62′ la sblocca e poi raddoppia all’80’. Il Torino fino all’83’ sta soccombendo per 2-1: per la qualificazione sembra fatta. Però, in un finale di gara thrilling, prima raggiunge il pari all’84’ con Kurtić, poi, a tempo già scaduto, quando a Parma la gara è terminata e tutti sono in trepidante attesa del fischio finale di Firenze, ottiene il rigore della possibile qualificazione. Sul dischetto va Cerci, ma il portiere viola intuisce e para!
Al Tardini scoppia la festa! Il parma, dopo 9 anni dalla sua ultima comparsa in Coppa UEFA (2006-2007), è nuovamente in Europa! Il tutto nell’anno del Centenario di fondazione del club: incredibile ma vero, sembra tutto perfetto e bellissimo!!!
Però… come spesso accade, c’è un però. La qualificazione europea sfuma: dopo qualche giorno si viene a conoscenza che il club non è in regola con alcuni pagamenti IRPEF e gli viene negata la licenza UEFA. Si tratta del primo tassello di una serie di gravi problemi finanziari che si protrarranno per tutta la stagione successiva, segnata da continui cambi di presidenza e proprietà, fumo negli occhi di tutti, prese in giro e negazione della più solare evidenza. Sembra di essere piombati in un terrificante incubo. Il risveglio finalmente avviene, ma è tramite una mazzata in faccia: dopo il fallimento della società, le trattative pseudo-reali con alcuni compratori italiani e stranieri, le aste fallimentari andate deserte a causa degli altissimi debiti di cui si dovrebbe fare carico la nuova proprietà, il Parma Calcio sparisce dagli elenchi federali… non esiste più!
La rinascita e il nuovo inizio
Siamo così arrivati al 27 luglio 2015: una nuova società sportiva dilettantistica, la S.S.D. Parma Calcio 1913, vede i natali, affiliandosi alla FIGC, che la ammette in sovrannumero in Serie D. Calcisticamente parlando, la città di Parma ha nuovamente una squadra che la rappresenta. Il nuovo club è posseduto da due società: Nuovo Inizio srl, composta da 7 imprenditori locali, che ne controlla la maggioranza, e da Parma Partecipazioni Calcistiche, formata da tutti quei tifosi che vogliono prendere parte alla storia della squadra. L’unico giocatore tesserato è Alessandro Lucarelli, il Capitano! Profetiche saranno le sue parole: “Sono morto con il Parma, rinascerò con il Parma!”
Il 3 agosto 2015, a Collecchio, primo giorno di ritiro precampionato, sotto la guida del nuovo mister Gigi Apolloni, bandiera del Parma più bello ed amato, e davanti agli occhi del presidente Nevio Scala, il numero di tesserati è 10!
Il giorno 6 settembre 2015 siamo ad Arzignano, dove parte un nuovo, strano, stimolante ed indimenticabile campionato. La partita finisce 1-0 per il nuovo Parma, grazie ad un generoso rigore concesso nei minuti finali e realizzato da Musetti, ed un gol-non-gol (forse più gol che no) non dato ai nostri avversari sullo 0-0. La stagione che si è appena aperta ci proietta in un mondo calcistico vero e genuino, molto più a misura d’uomo, dove i giocatori non sono quei mostri sacri, intoccabili ed irraggiungibili, dei campioni di serie A, ma persone più umili e disponibili, trascinate e, a volte, quasi spaesate per tanto entusiasmo e tifo. In questo contesto, come dimenticare l’invasione di Brescello degli oltre 3000 supporters gialloblù per il derby col Lentigione (sì, il Lentigione, non la Roma, il Milan o la Juve, ma il vicino paese d’Oltrenza), costretto a disputare la gara a Brescello, viste le piccole dimensioni del proprio stadio di casa?
Come dimenticare il viaggio di questa trasferta fatto da alcune centinaia di tifosi in sella a Vespe, scooter o biciclette, con tappa per il “terzo tempo” in un bar di Sorbolo, in cui alcuni giocatori si sono messi dietro il bancone e si sono improvvisati barman? Come dimenticare la festa di un Parma Club in cui i giocatori stessi si sono messi a tagliare ed impiattare la torta, servendo piatti e calici di spumante ai tifosi presenti?
Ancora, le trasferte su campi più simili a coltivazioni di patate che a impianti da calcio; le strutture improvvisate per l’occasione, come la tribuna stampa e tribuna v.i.p. in tubi innocenti (con tanto di cartellone pubblicitario dell’impresa che l’ha montata) in quel di San Mauro Pascoli, campo divenuto famoso per il cerchio di centrocampo non in centro e non in cerchio?
E che dire del pallone finito in laguna nella trasferta di Chioggia? O della sfilata di trattori nell’intervallo della partita a Borgo San Lorenzo? In questi contesti non c’è da stupirsi nel vedere i nostri giocatori impossibilitati a scendere in campo per infortuni o squalifiche, mescolati in mezzo ai tifosi ad esultare o a lanciare cori.
Nel giro di pochi mesi si è passati da stadi ultramoderni ad impianti di paese piccoli, vecchi ed incompleti, quasi parrocchiali, ma il tifo, la fede calcistica e l’orgoglio crociato sono rimasti sempre quelli, assolutamente invariati. Anzi, per certi versi si sono rafforzati, rinsaldando i legami tra tifoseria e squadra. Basti pensare ai più di 10.000 abbonati, che uniti all’organizzazione a livello professionistico del club ducale, con un centro sportivo e uno stadio da serie A, hanno riempito l’annata di dolci contrasti!
Salvo rarissime occasioni, tutte le trasferte sono state feste di paese per celebrare l’invasione dei tifosi ospiti; mentre per noi sostenitori crociati, l’occasione per la classica gita fuori porta domenicale.
Nell’arco del campionato ci sono molti alti e pochi bassi, con le squadre avversarie che contro di noi giocano alla morte; ma dopo una sola stagione tra i dilettanti, il 17 aprile 2016, con la vittoria casalinga per 2-1 sul Delta Rovigo, i ducali festeggiano il ritorno tra i professionisti, al termine di un’annata da record sia per seguito di tifosi che per punti fatti.
Chiudendo l’intero campionato senza sconfitte, il Parma raggiunge il primato stagionale dell’unica squadra imbattuta nelle prime quattro serie italiane.
Indimenticabile è “l’invasione di curva” dei giocatori crociati, che nella festa finale, aprono i cancelli ed entrano nel cuore del tifo organizzato, lanciando cori e sventolando bandiere! La rivisitazione, in chiave gialloblu, della classica “invasione di campo”!!
In seguito, come da tradizione, squadra e tifosi si ritrovano in piazza all’ombra di Garibaldi per continuare i meritati festeggiamenti! Un nuovo e dolcissimo capitolo è stato appena scritto!!

The beginning of the end
It was March 19th 2015 when Parma Calcio, hundred-year-old team, went bankrupt.
The beginning of the end dates back to March 18th 2014, exactly when Parma Calcio finished the Serie A season (6th place, outdoing Torino) and gained access to Europa League at round 3. It was a warm May evening; Torino was, temporarily, in 6th place with 56 points, whereas Parma got the 7th place with 55 points, after an intense battle head to head lasted all the second part of the season, with lots of overtakings.
The Gialloblu had to face Livorno (which had already been relegated) at the Tardini Stadium, whereas the Granata team was going against Fiorentina (which already won access to Europa League) at the Franchi Stadium. Our faith was not in our hands: we had to win and hope that Torino weren’t to do the same. Otherwise, by virtue of our lead on direct matches, a tie would have been enough. Little did we know that all of that would happen again just a few years later.
Parma won 2-0; Amauri scored two goals, one at minute 62 and then at minute 80. Since Torino was losing 2-1 until the very end, it almost seemed like we were ready for qualifications. But, for a thrilling finale, first Kurtic scored another goal for Torino then, when the match in Parma had come to an end and everyone was waiting for the final whistle in Florence, the referee give a penalty against Fiorentina. Cerci is kicking but viola goalkeeper block the shot!
In Tardini is party time. Parma Calcio, after 9 years from its last appearance in UEFA Cup (2006-2007) and on its 100 years Foundation Anniversary, entered the Europa League again. Everything seemed so perfect and beautiful!!!
But… like it use to happen, the story doesn’t end here. The European qualification went up in smoke. Just a few days later, the news broke: the company was not up to date with some IRPEF payments, therefore it lost its UEFA license. It was the first of many other financial problems that lasted until the following season, which was characterized by continual changes in the administration and ownership: mockeries, uncertainty and plausible denial. It seemed like a terrible nightmare. At the end, we woke up to an even more sadder news: after the bankruptcy, the seemingly real negotiations with the Italian and foreigner buyers, the auction sales to which nobody showed up to because of the huge amount of debts involved, Parma Calcio officialy disappeared from the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) list… it no longer existed!
Rebirth and New Beginnings
July 27th, 2015: SSD Parma Calcio 1913, a new amateur soccer club, entered the scene and got to Serie D, by affiliating with FIGC. From a footballing point of view, the city of Parma finally had a representative team. The new club was owned by two companies: Nuovo Inizio srl, run by seven local entrepreneurs, which owned a majority stake, and Parma Partecipazioni Calcistiche, a company composed by all those fans that would like to take part to the Club history. The only registered player was Alessandro Lucarelli, the Captain! His words sounded as a prophecy: “With Parma I died and with Parma I will rise again!”
Collecchio, August 3rd, 2015: first day of training camp, under the Coach Gigi Apolloni, beloved Parma Legend, and followed and overlooked by the President Nevio Scala the number of registered players goes up to 10!
Arzignano. September 6th, 2015: a weird yet exciting championship began. Parma won the match 1-0, thanks to Musetti who scored a “kind” penalty kick and to a goal not given to our opponents that probably would deserve it, when the result was still 0-0. The season that finally started throw us in a genuine sporting world where players were no longer seen as untouchable and unreachable Serie A champions, but revealed themeselves as humble and down to earth pepole, almost confused by cheering with such enthusiasm. Let’s not forget about what happened in Brescello, where more than 3000 fans got together just to watch the match between Parma Calcio and Lentigione (yes, not Rome, Milan or Juventus but Lentigione), which was forced to play in Brescello, because its stadium was not big enough to hold as many people.
How can we forget that hundreds of fans went to the stadium riding Vespas and bicycles and that players did a stop-over at a bar in Sorbolo, where they turned into bartenders for a “third half”? How can we forget about that time when players served slices of cake and spumante to the fans at one of the Parma Club parties?
And again, the away games on pitches that rather looked like potatoes fields; the improvised press and vip boxes, sitting on a tubing structure (covered in billboards with the name of the construction company on them) in San Mauro Pascoli, that would be then known for its uncentered and not circular midfield?
And what about the ball ending in the lagoon during an away game in Chioggia, Venice? Or the tractor parade passing by at Half-time in Borgo San Lorenzo? Within this context, it was not surprising seeing injured or disqualified players watching the game and cheering with the fans on the bleachers.
In a few months, we went from ultra-modern stadiums to old, incomplete ones in small towns, almost resembling the ones you see in parishes, but Crusaders fans support and pride remained the same as always. In fact, they got stronger, reinforcing the bond between players and supporters. As a proof of that, it is enough to think about the over 10000 subscribers who fullfilled the year with sweet contrasts, together with the club’s professional organization and a Serie A sports centre and stadium!
With a few exceptions, all the away games were like town festivals to celebrate our arrival, and for us Crusaders fans, they were perfect Sunday rides.
During the championship, there were many other ups and downs, especially against teams that played the “game of death” with us; but after just one season amongst the amateurs, on April 17th 2016, the Ducali celebrated its return to the professional league by winning 2-1 again Delta Rovigo, at the end of an incredible season.
The Championship ended with no defeats for Parma Calcio which set the record for the only team to be unbeaten for the first four Italian series.
The players invading the Curva Nord marked an unforgettable moment: the players opened the gates and joined the fans, singing and waving flags. The gialloblu version of the “invasion of the pitch”!!
Later, as tradition demands, the whole team and supporters met in the square, in the shadow of Garibaldi’s statue, to keep celebrating. A new and lovely chapter had just been written!!
